Our Vision

Aviva Farms strengthens the connection between Fijian people and their land, while offering our global community an opportunity to participate in, understand and explore the complexities and interconnectedness of this relationship. We believe that practicing and promoting sustainable agriculture strengthens the bond of local communities to their homeland, ultimately preparing a socially and econmically stable climate change ready generation.

How We Got Here

Livai Tora, Farm Director and community mastermind, inherited a 54-acre farm from his father in 1997. Originally Aviva Farms was a sugarcane plantation, but as changes in weather patterns arose resulting in volatile incomes, Livai saw the need to create an alternative. Livai diversified his farm, planting 20 indigenous species, 4,000 organic papaya trees, a tobacco field and added horseback riding to provide an additional sustainable income stream. Today, more than 60 young men and women from rural and remote communities work and learn on this farm.
